How to Become a Doctor in the USA: A Step-by-Step Guide for Students

Becoming a doctor in the United States is a dream for many Indian students. The path may seem long and different from what we are used to in India, but with proper planning and dedication, it is achievable. This step-by-step guide will help you understand the complete process to study MBBS in the USA and become a licensed doctor.

Step 1: Finish Your 10+2 with Science Subjects

The first step is completing your 10+2 or equivalent with subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Most US medical schools don’t require Indian 10+2 directly, but having good marks (at least 60%) in these subjects helps. These subjects will give you a strong base to handle the tough studies ahead.

Step 2: Complete a 4-Year Pre-Medical Bachelor’s Program

In the USA, students cannot join medical school directly after 12th. Instead, you must first complete a 4-year undergraduate degree called the Pre-Med program.
